There’s nothing more gratifying than seeing another creep brought to justice, and knowing that they’re going to throw away the key on him. That’s why it was so great to hear about what just happened to a slug named Jay Gillilland. Gillilland is a former U.S. Customs and Border Protection officer who sexually exploited his own daughter. He was found guilty of 317 counts of child molestation and child abuse - and was just sentenced to 6,242 years behind bars. That shows how serious our law enforcement system is about keeping these animals away from our kids.
But law enforcement isn’t the first line of defense against these lowlifes who prey on innocent children. We are. As parents, it’s our duty to keep our kids - all kids - away from this kind of danger. That’s why you can’t be shy about checking out who’s in contact with your children and what’s in their past. Too often, predators slip through the cracks and turn up in your neighborhood. You’ve heard me quote this terrifying statistic before: there are some 100,000 predators roaming under the radar in our country, criminals who are supposed to be registered, but aren’t. And all too often, it’s tough to keep track of the ones who are registered. The Adam Walsh Child Safety and Protection Act is aimed at dealing with both of these problems, but making failure to register a federal offense, and by creating a coordinated, easy-to-use national sex offender registry. As you know, I’m still fighting to make sure Congress comes up with the money to fund everything the law calls for.
Since we launched the AMW Safety Center, one of the questions I get asked most is “Where can I search for predators online?” Well, here are a couple of things you can do: First, The FBI operates The Department of Justice National Sex Offender Public Registry website where you can search by name and zip code. This will let you know who is registered in your area. If you’re looking for more detail, an organization called Family Watchdog offers users free access to databases including pictures and descriptions of registered sex offenders and a map including workplaces and home addresses of registered predators.
I recently heard the story of a mother in Florida whose four-year-old son told her that a man had asked him to come home with him to play baseball. She used Family Watchdog to search the area near where her son was approached, and found the picture of a convicted predator living nearby. The man was later positively identified by four individuals, arrested, and charged with Luring and Enticing a Child. He is now in jail awaiting trial. This is a great example of how being proactive can really make a difference in protecting your kids.
We are now providing you with a link to Family Watchdog from here at the AMW Safety Center. Look for it on the right side of the page.

“That shows how serious our law enforcement system is about keeping these animals away from our kids”
It seems the law enforcement system, in the form of U.S. Customs and Border Protection officer Gillilland, wasn’t very serious at all.
AMW Safety Center Staff
We have contacted the Department of Justice and there is nothing on record that supports your claim that “95%of new sex crimes are committed by someone NOT on the sex offender registry”. This does bring up the important point that are sex offender registries are not perfect which is why the Adam Walsh Child Protection Act is so important to help plug the holes in the system.

I have a huge problem with the fact that, as a country we are not more intolerable to these crimes. Children are innocent and helpless. It is our responsibility to protect them and our laws do not. If there were SEVERE consequences, children would cease to be taken from their sleeping beds and back yards. Since when did these predators become so trustworthy that we would leave “registering” up to them? If we realy took this seriously these people would not be let out of prison. Time and time again it has been shown that they are not able to control their urges. But now that is when the penalty is a slap on the wrist. If the penalty were say, getting your arm chopped of,f would they be able to “control” themselve then? I KNOW they would somehow find a way to get a grip on themselves.

I get many messages from the Family Watchdog program about sexual predators in my area. I cannot believe we have over 40 of them in my area. It’s too bad that I have to make my children come in before dark and they are not allowed leave the yard. I show them the pictures of these pigs that are in my town, and to my disbelief our community is never notified of an offender moving in our area. I am sick of it. Just because our community is not a RICH community the city seems to allow these disgusting perverts to move here. Thank god for AMW and the WatchDog programs, but more must be done.
angela
oh yes iam also on the family watchdog in my area i love it but all you have to do is go on line to megans law .com to see where they are in your town. i know i do to keep my child safe. oh and i gave nhim a cell phone so he can call me if anything.?

Truth In Lies
What Is Actually Known about the Effectiveness and
Impact of Internet Notification?
Arguments supporting and opposing widespread notification are largely based on isolated anecdotes, theories, personal beliefs and values. In point of fact, there have been few attempts to methodically collect information about the actual impact of widespread notification. To date, the Washington State Institute for Public Policy conducted the only study attempting to ascertain the impact of notification on recidivism [21]. After following 125 adult and 14 juvenile high-risk registrants subject to direct, active community notification and 90 comparison registrants for periods ranging from four to 54 months:
1. The study found no significant differences in recidivism between similar groups of offenders who were and were not subject to notification.

Yes, it seems this site does scrub out links. But I am very happy that it allows comments and discussion.
The idea of sex offender ghettos was probably not contemplated, and is an unintended, but sadly foreseeable consequence of the sex offender registry. Fear is safety is one aspect, but property values is another. No one wants to live in the same neighborhood as a sex offender, and the registry showed people exactly where RSO’s lived. The Buffer Zone laws followed. These laws created the sex offender ghettos that are now discussed.

gee you people need to know the different from a sex offender and a sex predators. PREDATORS are the one YOU should be worry about.
oh ya contact Zman when one of your family member become a sex offender then you will know the different….between the two.
to the lady who was stated “I cannot believe we have over 40 of them in my area.”
Lady those people are Sex offender NOT PREDATORS!!!
S.S.
First and foremost I want to say, I’m a mother of 3 beautiful children and I will do everything in my power to protect them. Talking to them is a big part of knowing what is going on in their lives.
As a child I was abused from the age of at least 4 to the age of 16. Eventually the system took over and he recieved 6 months in jail and 6 months in a mental institution and the charges were dropped. I wasn’t the only person in the family who was abused.
Half a dozen counseling sessions in the process and that was the extent of treatment I recieved.
Of course, I married a guy just like dad. An abuser. I have 3 beautiful children and I thank God that they are safe. My ex abused minors and recieved 3 life sentences plus 20.
A sexual situation resulted in myself being registered as an offender. The person turned out to be a minor, not the age they stated. I won’t go into anymore details of the situation.
I have been sober 10 years, recieved counseling for the abuse I sustained as a child and have learned to stay AWAY from the creeps I used to attract! I am a devoted parent.
Not all sex offenders are predators, nor or all neighbors and family members safe. Sex offenders that are on the registry have various crimes that do not make them a threat to society. Societies fear have lead us, myself included, to panic the second a sex offender moves into the neighborhood. The statistics have been bent to fit and feed off societies fears. Its a scarlett letter that haunt hundreds of thousands of individuals, and makes life very troubled.
Communication and knowing our children and who they hang around, and the kind of life they lead is a priority. My children know that if someone does something that makes them feel uncomfortable to tell someone immediately. If they are gone longer than they state they are going to be, I panic and locate them. If they state they are going to be at a friends house, I check and make sure they are where they said they are going to be.
It starts at home, the protection and guidance our children need.

Angela,
Thanks for paying attention. I

I am so sick of hearing about innocent little children being taken as if they are objects. Why is it that Michael Vic is up for crucifiction over several dogs but 3,4,5 10 yr olds can be taken from the store, their beds, back yards and we as citizens are not outraged and demand a stop to it with stricter penalties. China just executed the man responsible for counterfiting consumer products (dog food, colegate) Why are we so tolerable? I know it sounds barbaric, but GROWN MEN have a choice about the things that they are doing to these children, they make a conscious decision. These children do not. They are victims. So why are we not treating them like the animals that they are choosing to be. Children cannot protect themselves and it is up to us to do so. Why is it the leaders/ law maker in this country don’t grow a pair and put an end to this stuff. Is it $$. Would it be different if one of these victims were a child or grandchild of theirs? I have a 10 mo old. I cannot ever begin to imagine the pain and emptiness that must haunt each and every person who has had their child taken for senseless reasons. When, why and where does it stop????? Does it take a celebrity, Oprah ? someone? who people will listen to ,to be the voice for the people because something has just got to give!!!!

I don’t think anyone is against helping the victims of child sex abuse or finding ways to prevent child sex abuse.
The sex offender registry is one tool, but it is a bit like using a broad sword to do the work of a scalpel. True sexual predators are a decided minority of people convicted of sex offfenses. The definition of sexual offense has been broadened over the past decade to include crimes no one would think is a registerable offense. Examples are consensual sex between teenagers, urinating in public, and mooning.
The truth is that sex offenders are your fathers and mothers, brothers and sisters, friends and relatives, and sons and daughters. You only have to look at the sad case of Mark Lunsford to see that some of the people Mark wanted registered include his own son, Joshua.
The bottom line is to be smart about crime, no just tough on crime, and put energy and resources where it will do real good at preventing child sex abuse.
yolanda cornish
I don’t feel enough is being doing about child sex offenders. What angers me the most is that they are letting these sick deranged people out of jail to keep committing the same crimes on children. We all need to do more to protect our children and our communities.
drew
Really sick people who are substantially likely to commit another violent sexual act now face civil commitment. These people may be detained indefinitely before they are allowed back into society.
Most sex offenders will get out of jail and return to society. Very few of these sex offenders will commit another sex crime.
The real danger to children usually comes from someone in the same family or a trusted friend. Most new sex crimes are committed by people with no previous sex crime conviction. Most new sex crimes are not committed by registered sex offenders. The registered sex offenders simply are convenient targets.
If we want to make real progress we need a lot more research on effective ways to prevent child sex abuse, more funding on educating children and parents, more information on the truth about who commits child sex abuse, and treatment for those who have sexually abused a child, or contemplate abusing a child.

My wife and I attended a seminar at our child’s school years ago about protecting our children from sexual abuse and internet sex predators. A lady in the audience towards the end of the seminar raised her hand to ask a question of the panel that was conducting the seminar. She asked, “Having said all that you have about protecting our children, what is the end all be all way to make sure our children don’t get molested”? The speaker looked at her and simply said, “Don’t molest your children”.
This answer speaks volumes. This speaker didn’t explain his answer because he didn’t have to. His entire presentation was littered with facts and stats about how over 90% of children that are sexually abused are abused by a family member. Stranger danger is a myth he explained. It happens in less than 10% of all child sexual abuse cases.
So, do you want the most effective way to protect your children? DON”T MOLEST THEM!
jamie
I think they should take all the gangsters and sexual preditors and put them in the army. right on the front lines. let’s see how tough they really are.
they use to do this. i have a friend that got to choose jail for 5 yrs or the army. he choose army and he is a great guy.
drew
Jamie;
Unfortunately, and with apologies to Arlo Guthrie, they are not “moral enough” to join the army. I think many would join, just to have an opportunity to be employed, and to feel useful to society. A criminal conviction might trigger an armed services applicant to apply for a waiver. Most sex crimes will require a waiver before an applicant can join the military. This waiver process has recently come under scrutiny by Congress, because of the increase in waivers, and criminal conduct by our troops in the field.

To anyone who reads this: Abuse comes in many forms it takes courage to break the silence. This cycle was broken in my very own family….My Mother in her attempt at trying to break free of an alcoholic husband took me to Alateen & AA to get counsiling. My cousin who I had not seen in years was there I was so happy to see her! When it came time for eveyone to talk and it was my cousins turn. What she said changed our family forever. She tells us that our uncle had been molesting her for as long as she can remember. I was shocked! Here I was tring to get help and I get this. My cousin told me not to say anything but it bothered me sooooo much I had to tell my Mom and Aunt as soon as we got in the car even though she made me promise. I had a teacher who told me that no one should ask you to keep a secret that makes you feel bad secrets are supposed to be good like a suprise party. Thats when the war started, there was people who believed and others who did not. My uncle never did anything to me but I do remember getting creepy feeling whenever I was left alone with him. ( I was molested by my Uncles son I told my Mom later who just said Oh I hoped you would have forgotten that). He was tried and convicted and my cousin was sent packing from the family. If I saw her today I would tell her I am sorry for breaking her trust in me but that she has the heart of a lion. It’s hard to have people abandon you when their brains can’t cope with what they are hearing. So to ANYONE out there please, please, please tell someone that person might be essentual to your survival. Karma works sometimes and Fate has her hands full…..so help your fellow humans and law enforcement don’t suffer in silence you may be saving others from a world of hurt. Stats only remind us is that there are people attached to those numbers at the end. Please tell your kids and their friends they are endangered species, no one is like them keep each other safe. Thanks and God Bless.
Autumn
GOD BLESS YOU MR.WALSH! You are the kind of person there should be more of in the world. You really care, and I thank you.

John we are happy that your show is still on to support their families and victims catching crooks is the best thing to do there are a lot of sick people who hurt our children we don’t other kids to get hurt John keep up the good work to support law enforcement thanks John we Salute Ya!!!! my thoughts and prayers to you thanks

Mr. Walsh is doing an outstanding job. Keep up the good work John. But we cannot depend on a sex offender registry. Parents HAVE to be involved with their children. Ask alot of questions and never be bashful about it. Your kids life could depend on it.

I don’t think the community realizes what a danger the rental property next door is to your kids.
All the applications I’ve been getting lately are from newly released drug dealers (out early) for running a drug house , getting off on “intentional harm of a child” , marrying an illegal so they can stay in the states, getting an out of state license and changing their date of birth and/or middle initial (I had one applicant drop their wallet and 8 different IDs fell out!) ,even “decent older couples” (wolf in sheep outfit) are renting apt for their drug dealing /sex offender kids!
All I have to say is watch your rental property next door - I screen my applicants well - but others do NOT (for the money )

My son was molested at the age of 4 by a 13 year old and was sentenced to 1 year in detention home awaithg for a facility that provided counseling. We the family agreed with the DA and excepted. He spent 2 years with NO treatment and was realeased anyway. He was sentenced that he would have to file as a sex offender but as of 3 days aog, the judge overruled that. That is wrong. How can they go back and change a ruling when they were already charged and sentenced to those terms. This happened in Effingham County Ga. We the family got no apology for what this (yes child at time) did. I feal it was terribly wrong. Can u give me some advive.

I recently saw the list of sex offenders that are living in my neighborhood. There are several schools around me and I see children walking to and from school each and everyday. The law in this town doesn’t do their job and I’m quite concerned that some of these innocent children will be very hurt. I don’t think the law knows just what their responsibilities are in this town. Something seriously needs to be done.
Shocked that so many people are in support of sex offenders!
I think it is sickening that so many people are supporting sex offenders. How little some value our childrens’ safety is simply shocking and heartbreaking.
If “stranger danger” is no big deal as some here are saying, then why are their children being abused by strangers? It happens, all too often. Granted many victims, perhaps the majority, are victimized by people they know, it does not negate the dangers of strangers.
Simply heartbreaking that people take the side of offenders as opposed to children.
I for one would prefer to err on the side of caution that to say not all offenders are “bad”. If their crimes, yes CRIMES, were not deemed “bad” then they would not have been punished.
Heather Fairchild
First-Thank you John Walsh for everything you are doing and I am behind you 110%. This site has helped me in many ways.
My niece was reacently raped by her step father. Evidence was found and later more found that it had happened previously on more occasions. My niece has told law enforcement about the five years that she was abused, age 8-13. The DA in our area wants to plea bargin for three years in prison. What does this mean? will he get out in a few months? This girl will carry this for the rest of her life and it will affect everything she does. When this man gets out, he is not rehabilitated. This man and every offender SHOULD be registered for life. These sick obsessions that they have for young children don’t just go away, they continue to have them and should never be trusted again. In the right place they will repeat.
I am furious that our society is not more proactive and is so leinient on offenders. I intend to get more involved and make my self heard.
I feel so helpless and am in need of advice to get his jail time increased. I am not getting any help from the legal comunity in my area. Why is this crime so overlooked?

HI John Walsh you did a great thing to put on a safety show on TV people need to know there’s bad guys out there who will do anything they can to get near a child or a grown up. Im sorry for what happen to your little boy that never should of happen he was such a sweetheart!!!! But what I like most about it is you didint just be sad all your life you got up and put your foot down and tried to find that creep! I love your show.

how do I get someone to listen when the predator is my children’s father? he’s someone that people would find it almost impossible to believe. it was for me during the course of a 25 year marriage. too many people throw out those kind of accusations, so much that it makes someone with genuine concerns to be viewed negatively. this is a prominent family that also has also experienced a 25 year old unsolved murder. my real fear is that my children’s experience is connected. image is the only thing the family is concerned with. i need help.

Thank you sooo much John Walsh. Thanks to family watchdog we found out that their is a sexual pretedor living right across the street for me. im only 14. and their are more than 10 kinds runing around here. and he sits outside and watches us. im not alowed to step outside becuase of him. he did bad things to girls my age. sooo please help!!!!!

Im really glad youre doing alot to help children against predators.these kind of people should not be allowed around normal society. I also have a question it is concerning our daughter. she has autism and sometimes the normal kids do mean things to these special kids. my question is what rights do we parents with these special children have?

When I read all these comments I learned that some people really do care. I am only 11,live in a “bad” town and want to make it better. I found out there are a bunch of these monsters living here. Not that long ago about 2 months ago a girl almost got kidnapped walking home.
LINDA
If there are any ways you think my friends and I can make a difference in our town please post a comment as soon you read this. Thanks AMW I watch your show all the time. And I’ve learned some important things like predators are usualy people I know.

i think we need to get these lowlife morons off the streets once and for all. They dont deserve to be out in the world anymore. Lets lock them up and throw away the key.

I check the website at least twice a month. I’ve taught my kids what to do if approached. My daughter was just approached last week and now I’m being told that if this guy has no prior record he will walk. They will only lock him up if he does it again. How can we protect the next kid who might not be as prepared?

Registry is a waste of time. It doesn’t prevent any crime. So what if we know where they live, they can still molest at any time.

My brother-in-law is a sex offender he was charged with this offense about 9 years ago and went to
a counselor. We think they must have paid the family off and he goes on doing the same thing. We know he was charged and then mysteriously the charges were droped, how ever he admited to the crime, and is not suppose to be around children at all, but he and his wife still have a grand daughter that comes to see them .Just of recient my sister-in-law told me he was in trouble again for molesting her grand daughter and showing child pronorog.to her on the internet wahile fonduling her she told me
she did’t think he would get charged .This happen last time this makes me and my husband ill and sick.We can’t stand theme and I feel she is just as guilt.A poliece officer has been investgaeting (sorrie for the spelling) it and has been egnored. We want this creep off the streets and arrested and to be reported to the city we live in.His mother lives with us she is 93 and we are trying to find a way to get him out of here for the saftey of children of our comunity ans the shame it bring us

I think that law enforcement agencies should have taken this seriously a long long time ago. I think that if these crimes are treated as if they are a murder or a robbery then there will be less crimes against children. I also think that all parents need to be aware of how easily it is for a predator to come in and ruin a live’s.

I have read many of the articales here. I have not seen anywhere that I can put in what is what I fill needs to be addressed. Right now Pine County is about to release a person that is a great big affender. He has raped my 13yr old grandaughter 3 times. My daughter(wife) my 4yr old grandaughter(his daughter). Grabbed them by the neck and threatened to kill them if they told. One of the child protection officers informeed him ahead of time about it and told him where they where going to get the DNA from. So before we new it he and his ex and family made fast tracks to get rid of most of it.( 1 officer admitted to having an affair with him, this comment was made when the 13yr old was discribing his body and that she new she was telling the truth. because she has seen his body many times). The 4yr old has night mares almost every night reinacting what her dad did to her. All I can do is hold her and cry. Anyway now the county is going to release him because he has an attorny.(proboneO) And they now dont want to waste county money on it. There is more but not enough space. The worst part is that his dad has been charged with childmollesrting in the past and now we will have to hand these children back to him if he is not charge. He was over heard plotting with his ex on how to kill my daughter an the kids an take off out of state. We are affraid that he will full fill his promise of death an we cannott do much about it. His one of the people that is going to go under the Radar.Untill it is to late. We need help FAST
Lynn Hanson
They have let him out an telling us that we have to give the 4 yr old back to him The same little girl that Childerens hospital confirm that he had raped and they will live with his parents. His father is a convicted child molester

What I am having a hard time with is the amount of women preditors that are getting away with things. My child was sexually abused by her step mother. The prosicuter is not doing anything on the case. We just resently found out that she is doing the same thing to her daughter. They are not able to do anything because the child is to young to speak. Is there anything that we can do? How can we make it known that women sexually abuse as well and they need to face the consequences too.
Zoe
Stranger danger is NOT a myth. Though kidnapping by a total stranger might be more rare than molest within the family, it DOES happen and ALL of the issues presented need to be addressed and dealt with. DUI offenders, sex offenders, predators…all of these are reasons why parents need to watch their kids, and make sure they know where their kids are at all times.

John Walsh, I think you do an amazing job! I sit down and watch AMW every saturday night faithfully. I love the show so much. I am a mother of three young children and the tips and the whole show itself helps a whole lot. It keeps me updated on whats going on in my area as well as everywhere else. I dont have a computer at home so I go to work and log on every chance I get to stay updated. I just wanted to let you what an awesome job you are doing.

Dear Mr. John Walsh,
We all here in Chgo. love your program. We were really surprised to find out in all counties in Ill. EXCEPT Cook County ( this is were Chgo is located), when there is a registered sex offender the schools in such areas are notified along with their pictures. Can you imagine how many school children live in Chgo. & school authorities/parents are unaware of these creeps lurking around the playgrounds of schools here in Chgo. Is this a county law? If suburbs have notification then what about the big city? Is this a practice of all big towns? Does the county officials think all of the “sickos” live in the burbs? Have you ever heard of this. Does these sickos lose rights as far as voting for officials?
lisa
I think that what you are doing is great! My daughter was a victim of an internet predator, who worked as a clown. I handed the DA and sheriff the case and almost 6 months later, they finally arrested him, after I brought the media into the story. It is absolutely rediculous for this to happen. I personally was smeared through the mud and that should never happen with a victim. Thank you for all of your help with this.

This web site is such a blessing, i was working as crossing guard for an elementary school, a friend told me about this site and come to find out an offender on the national list, was not just hanging out around our school, but also IN IT. I contacted the Police dept. and the school. Supposedly the principle was well aware of him entering the school, and it was OKAY. But after talking with the police (My boss) He no longer hung around or even went on school property. Only his girlfriend, who had kids, the pediphile more or less adopted. He later used a puppy near my crossing area to entice kids. I called my Boss again(The Police) They then moved to another state. We can make more of a differnce with this web site. Knowledge is power to protect, if used correctly. I still keep tabs on this man. What horrifies me most, is that he is with a woman with kids, and everyone knows this and no one is stopping it, I have seen the side affects of his abuse and heard about it from downstairs neighbors of theirs. I’m so scared for those children what can we do?

ML, Iike the way you think.
It does not matter if they are “Sex Offenders” or “Predators”, they cannot be rehabilated!!! It is a sickness that cannot be removed. There is only one way to fix this type of sick person. The Death Penalty. Folks, we send people to death over much smaller issues. Taking the life of a child, weather literally or emotionally, is the most important issue!
I do not care what “experts” say on how to rehibilitate these sick people, I just know what I think about these little helpless childern that are being hurt.

Thank you AMW. for putting away so many fugitives. Your show gave me the faith to beleive that even after 10 years on the run, the bad guys can’t hide from justice. You are the best show on tv.

I have looked at most of the web sight’s and I can’t find one, that I don’t have to pay for to find a list of sex offenders in my town. Please help, I think a relative is living with one and she has a 4 yr old daughter, and a teenage daughter. Post it here, I will be checking this out all day. By the way she does’nt know either.

Oklahoma is the worst when it comes to child protection. This state does not do ENOUGH to protect our kids.
Someone that is caught stealing has a bigger bail or jail time than someone who has molested a child.
We have a 4yr old little girl who was molested by an instrument. The person that did this was a 17 yr old kid. He got out of jail because the judge had his bail at 1000.00 dollars. Plus, the victim’s mom had to go and fight to have this kid kicked out of school because her child is in Pre-K at the same school as the person who did this to her.
The judge and the PA said to the arresting officer for him to calm down, that he was making more out of this than what it is.( he was fighting to get a bigger bail)
When is this little girl going to get justice? Not while living in Oklahoma!!!
I’m trying to get information on where or who this mother can go to to get help with this. The PA said she needed to get an attorney.
Call me silly, but I thought that the PA was the victims attorney. NOT IN OKLAHOMA!!!

Dear Reader(s),
To supervise your child/children ad his/her activities while their on the Internet is a must. Trust is everything, however if your child feels his/her trust is being violated by you, the Parent. “They’ll Get Over It!” Remind them that they’re trust is not the one in question, and continue your crusade with diligence. You can still maintain authority with a little “tough Love.” keep you Computer/Laptop in a “conspicuous” location in the Home. A good, yet necessary Safeguard is to be able to lock out unwanted predators whenever suspicious activity such as “coding” rather than full words are being utilized. Monitor the time periods your child has during their Internet chat periods. Predators are clever at attaining their time periods. Always ask yourself. What Is My Child Doing? And “always, ” be aware!

Can I try to fight the attorney general office for a decision not to file charges against a sexual crime that has been committed against my daughter that is 10 year old? If I can please advised me of what steps I can take first. I live in FL and I am very frustrated with the judicial system At this point. I
always thought they were here to protect the innocent and convict the guilty. In my case I have to live next door to this pig.My daughter slept over her friends and this is were this took place while she was sleeping the father of the friend with up her night gown and up was touching her under her under pants. My daughter was very scared. When she woke up she told the girls mother and this is when i received the dreaded called from the mother of her friend.I called the police and they were at my house for 7 hours and by this time the alleged had already contact two attorney. DSF.or child services had close the case with some findings and than I guess it went to the attorney General office.
This had occurred in Oct 2007.I think this time span of 8 hours was too long by the time police went to question the alleged he went to work as if nothing had happened.I do not to this date think he was ever question. The wife had advised me that he was drunk and took xanax and that he could not remember what had happen but he has never denied it either. To date he is going to AA and is going to sex therapy so they say.I guess this was the advise of his attorney to make it look like he was trying to get help. This does not seems like a innocent man.So why has the Attorney General not gone forwarded with charging him? .Is it because he has an attorney? It took over 3 months for the detective to call me to let me know that they did not go forward with this case.I asked why he stated that he did not know.I did get the phone number for the attorney General office but have not heard back from them. There has to be some justice for your children. How do we begin to tell them that there is nothing mommy or daddy can do about this but it took a lot of courage for you to lets us know and that I am very sorry that you will have to see him because he lives next door. Is this the answer we want to give them ?I don’t think so.I rather tell her that the police will take care of this and that he will never be able to do this to another little girl again. Please help me with a answer. How I can fight the Attorney General office in there decision to not to move forwarded with the charges.
I will keep searching because I WILL NOT GIVE UP
we parents need to know were to get some answers. Please help. I am now also feeling like a victim caught up in the system

Frustrated Mom in NH
If anyone knows how to get justice for a young child, age 3, please let me know. I am a single mother of two wonderful children. I had the worst news any parent can get in Nov. of 2007. I was told that my little girl was molested by the man I was seeing at the time. We went to the hospital and to the police and they arrested the man only to turn around a month and a half later to let him walk free. I was told that the reason that they let him go was because of my daughters age. The C.A. told me that they didnt think that my daughter was compitent enough to stand up and testify against this guy. So now 3 mths later he is walking free to molest and destroy more families and innocent children.
My daughter is still telling people thing that he made her do and things that he did to her, THREE MONTHS LATER. If anyone has any ideas on how to get justice for my little girl PLEASE say how.
There are to many innocent children being destroyed by all of these sick men and they are still walking the streets because of the childs age. Where is the justice for these innocent kids. Someone needs to do something for the kids. When is our Justice System going to wake up and relize that just because of a childs age that they dont deserve justice for the horrible crime that was done to them.
Someone Help These Innocent Kids

It’s good to hear there still people who care. But there i know some people that don’t and do everthything they can to interfer. I know a family that their mother has a predator living with her 5 kids and often more than that because she babysits. The DCF has been there, but she knows when they come and she’ll hide him. I’ve ran out of options and this is the last thing I can do. I know what though kids are probably going through having had a similar mother in my life that just don’t care about the kids. The predators name is Steven Dague.

I am trying to get up with someone who can help me. I live in Poquoson VA, and a convicted sex offender is allowed in my 9 year olds school, because he has children in the school. I am at my wits end. How can this be? What about the other children there, do they not have any rights to feel safe.
adrianna mcnab.
ADRIANNA.4-14-08 I have been giving alot of compliments. I am very conserend because some of my friends are saying that they are being looked at in there own windows while getting undressed.I know it can somtimes just be a story to tell just to scare me but i truly beleive them .I think the people that they say they look at them are sex offenders.

My Nephew was sexually molested by his father and to this day they havent caught him…..I’m a firm beleiveer on the fact that sex offenders and people like that should have a more strict punishment…..for GOD’S sake, AMW, have you ever thought that it could happen to one of your children…..

I have a former ex father inlaw who thinks
he’s about the law and did yell at a judge soon after my divorce here as well, had goten away with it as well, not only that he still continues to still do this to other folks and not just a judge eather in Ms. I reall once I said to him a swell you really think your above the law he then says to me O!! who do you thinks going to stop me you adn then laughts as well. I guess you could say he is also geting away with yelling at my 2 year old daugther as well, has doen this to alot of ther people and not just me or his wife and daugther as well, but when we had a snow fall last month he again yelled at my 2 year old daugther as I have said. Thanfully both my former exwife and I have joint custody of oour daugther and can’t wait for her to me other family members witch shes never met before, he the father inlaw only wanted for me to see my daugther with I love very much as well. My former wife had left me in March of 06 and my daugther was born on October of 05 and then the divorce was final as of 07. O!! they also wanted to even destroy my line of credit as well and even try to have my former house foreclosed on to make things worse. I am so very thankfull that the house did sell a week that it was on the market adn that they didn’t get there way. Iam so gld for guys like John Walsh as well who keep it real, thats because we have way way to to many jerks like this that seam to think again there above the law, well thats the reason why we have real men to take care of so called men like that that seam to get away doing things that aren’t right see my case in point thanks again John Walsh for all you do adn continue to do. God Bless

John, I have a convicted sex offender who lives across the street from my house. He has been charged with child rape. i have a daughter who plays with his niece almost everyday. He is a level 3 sex offender and is not supposed to have contact with children but I do see him talking to the other kids around the neighborhood.
What should I do?
Cyn
While I commend AMW and feel they are doing the best that they can, there are a significant number of molesters who never get charged, let alone convicted. My youngest daughter (who was 4 at the time) was being molested by my oldest daughters husband, her brother-in-law. The prosecuting atty chose not to charge him, which in itself has created quite a difficult situation for my family, I have a grandson from this perpetrator. He has other victims, with pretty much the same results, plus he has committed identity fraud, forged license plates and proof of insurance, produced fake ID’s for himself and others, yet the snake seem untouchable. WHY! Because he tells people he is a Navy Veteran who served in Iraq, making him a war hero, But that also is false.
There is no justice in our system today and it does not look like it will arrive in the near future.

John Walsh and America’s most wanted has given a site so you as concerned parents can find out if pediphiles or rapests are in your area. Go to top of this page….It’s off to the right, “familaywatchdog” click it and follow instructions. Good luck and God bless.

Is there a list of sex offenders for a given area to make sure i know were they are?
dee
I too am ourtaged at the light sentences given these dangerous criminals—I think the judges who let them go so easily should move these predators next door to them or their grandchildren and then it would be interesting to see if they might keep them behind bars a little longer……
don
The way I feel is, if your a sex offender, then you should be monitored for life. The reason is clear, some can say that the offender may not commit another sex crime, but who is to say that they wont; it’s too much of a big” if ” and I feel like, because of the crime, it being heinous in all, the offender should be monitored for the rest of his life. That being said, if we broad casted
this kind of law, there would be less offenders due to the penalty of law . It sickens me to hear that their sick;
well if there sick, lock them up in mental institutions and let us tax payers pay for it, because were sure not getting enough done with our tax dollars at work
right now.
Not withstanding the fact that their are innocent people accused of these crimes annually, and I ask
that you be free, if you did not commit the crime, but
if you did commit the crime, you made a decision,
which was wrong, and now that decision has made you a label ” A SEX OFFENDER “.

to all the monsters out there in this world today that kidnap, molest, murder, and rape confused, fragile, sensitive, shy, sweet, and vulnerable children plus treat them like punching bags that are found guilty with being convicted of their cowardly, heinous, perverted, pigheaded, and sick acts on children dont deserve to live in my opinion instead they should be executed by all four methods of capital punishment which are the electric chair, firingsquad, gas chaimber, and my personal favorite for now lethal injection.

My daughters cheer squad wants to form a website with pictures, practice schedules, calendar of events, etc. which will be open to the public. I feel like this is too much info that any predator can have access to. The school does not require approval for the site even though this is a school sponsored activity. Any suggestions or comments? I’ve emailed several people at the school and they tell me it’s a “normal” way to communicate.

I understand that Jay Gillilland still gets to talk to his daughter!!!! She’s in Virginia but when she’s with other family members, they arrange for Jay to talk to the daughter. How is this helping that child heal?????????!!!! Please check this out….it’s true.

I think registering is a step, but in reality they need to be locked up for good. They should be treated like murderers when they molest or rape a child. These children are changed for life and have to live with their experience forever. That child that has been violated will never be the same so in many respects molesting them or raping them has killed them inside. Money should not be spent on how to get these men back into society, but in helping our children start recovering from this horrific torture that they now must deal with. These perverts need to stay locked up because one child is one too many and once they make that decision they should lose all their rights. How have we not made greater strides in this? How is it that we have people fighting for these sickos to live where they want. Why are we wasting research and time on finding tracking solutions. Our children are everywhere and if these people get out they will be around them at some point so why put them at risk? It needs to be one strike and they go away for good. They may only have one charge against them, but that’s only one child that comes forward. What about the children that don’t speak up because they are scared. Again, we need more advocates pushing for life sentencing for these sickos.

I am ashamed of our Justice System in the US when it comes to these SICK ANIMALS!!!!! I wished us parents could take the law into our own hands, because I know they would never harm a child again. John Walsh is the most amazing man. I know so many of us out there thank god every day for putting this man on earth. He has made a difference in so many lives and captured so many criminals, GREAT JOB JOHN WALSH !!!!!
Wanda
I have to agree with Gina, I am ashamed also of the justice system.. And I agee they are truely SICK ANIMALS… I live in California and just found out there is one of those sick animals that live in our small mobilehome park. We also have a 14 year old that has lived in the park for over 7 months. Whats really sick is that her grandmother is aware of this sick O. I would like to know what the restructions of some one that is registered as a sex offender is in California. He almost lives right next door, and I dont trust this person at all. And for John YES he is great and we watch you every week you are on. You have made this world a much much better place for us all. If anyone knows the restructions for register sex affenders in California please post it, so I can follow up and do the right thing. Thanks & God Bless to you all….

What is our world doing now days!!! This country is losing it’s moral value!! You put these monster’s back into our community”s !!!!! Then not away from are children !!! This is awful we need more of them to either stay in jail for life!!!!!! Or in a secured place!!! It’s like they are set free to do it again and again!!!! Don’t let your children be victimized!! Watch them like hawk’s!!!! Be educated look it up!!!! Find out how many live in your area and where!!! Not to sound gi-joe’s But…… Knowing is half the battle!!!!

i think that some people dont watch there children as much as they should because i was at work one day. and i thought this little girl was with her mom and brother and the mom and boy walked out of the store and the littel girl stop at the door and started crying i went to see if i could get her to stop crying .i pick her up and went out side and said mam mam is this your littel girl and the women said that isent mine .i took her back in side she was still crying and i started to go to css and all of a sudden the mom came running down the store and the only thing she could say was o my god are you all wright she dident say thanks or nothing ithink that if more moms and dads would watch there kids more than these freaks wouldent have a chance.

Hola: More definitely needs to be done. I remember at the age of 8 years old in P.R. and as soon as my grandmother left the house. And old man would show up at our house and ask for my grandma. I would tell him that she went to the city. He would then start to laugh and say to me that my grandma never left. That i should look to where he was and he would expose himself to me. I was so scared that i didnt want to say anything. So our children need our help.. Lets not turn our backs to our children. CF. RI.

no justice for P.C.
my daughter at 4 was molested by the 15 year old next door. the mother i was friends with, worked at the citys hospital.we lost her case.the state attorneys office here in florida, the state attorney himself was on vacation when i called and never returned my call. every aspect of my daughters case was and is pathetic!the small some what wealthy neighborhood would never ever let something like this to be heard of!i had surgery and was cut from side to side . the word predator is this kid now 16 in ny. my daughter is now 5, and there was no justice for athena! the police were slow to act, the place we went for cultures , they layed my daughter down and they did not have the swabs to even culture, they just opened!there was a teen double murder at the time of my daughters case, so i understand the detective was busy, and it was truley horrible what happened to those kids.a 4 year old, almost 5, cannot draw perfect pictures like she drew. our child doesnt watch regular tv nor the news.we protect her so much…and in the blink of an eye…he was a predator working his closness to my beautiful daughter.he will strike again on another child.i can go on and on on the major flaws in this case….at the center where they were supposed to do cultures and talk w our daughter, she knew the difference between a lie and the truth….they did exam our daughter there though, but she had to go to the hospital where the mother had worked and be rapped in a sheet to be tested for diseases, the dr said, she needs to grow up, my husband i were so mad…a 4 year old needs to grow up when you are holding your screaming mommy make him stop..again and again, daddy please help me…the so called investigation was open almost a year to get a phone call recentley the case is closed, cody will strike again

I am so angry right now i don,t know where to begin. I have an 8 year old granddaughter . Not everyone can afford a computer, i know my daughter can,t. My granddaughter was just at a sleepover. I started having a bad feeling when i saw the supposed father at the store and my granddaughter told me that was who she had stayed with. I got on a computer to check things out and to my horror there he was on the list. I went to the local police to see how the heck he could be having sleepovers.they said as long as the parents send them and unless one of the girls presses charges there is nothing they can do. My daughter had no idea what kind of person this was, like i said not everyone can afford a computer. There has to be a way to keep these guys away from children.

to the person that was complaining about knowing the difference between a preditor & sex offender, it doesn’t matter to me , a mom of 2 young children both of them are very trusting & love to help the needy, i wouldn’t want either in my neighborhood where they could possibly ask my kids for help doing something & poof they’re gone. never to be seen again. they both need to be put away where they couldn’t get the chance to hurt another child.
