One out of six women in America will become the victim of sexual assault according to the Department of Justice. April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month and there’s a lot to learn whether you are a victim of this terrible crime or you want to help someone you know who’s been a victim. The DOJ’s Director of the Office of Violence Against Women encourages everyone to get involved. It’s estimated that 60% of sexual assault crimes are never reported to authorities so preventing this violent crime is extremely important.
As part of the effort to bring awareness, here are some resources to assist you or someone you know who may be a victim of sexual assault:

You can order a Directory of Sexual Assault Centers in the United States by clicking here.
Check out the National Sexual Violence Resource Center (NSVRC) for more resources. The NSVRC works to address the causes and impact of sexual violence through collaboration, prevention efforts and the distribution of resources.
You can also go directly to NSVRC’s list of publications for a wide variety of information related to sexual assault here.
RAINN, Rape, Abuse, Incest National Network operates two hotlines, one by phone at 800.656.HOPE or if you’re more comfortable online at online.rainn.org.

Brandy and Kevin are both so right. not only is rape horrifying, studies show that an rape only takes 2 to 3 min. to happen. The aftermath years to heal. A horrific deed of rage and hate. So sorry for all others who have had to know this tramma. There is healing though.

As guilty and vuneralble you may feel afterwords. The domestic violence group taught us (and their advice is true) IT IS NOT YOUR FAULT. Please go to family, freinds….. ER help., Please agree to be examined, as evidence, they could have carried deiseses(sp) and you could actually be injured inside, that could cause internal bleeding. Don’t believe the abuser’s lies. Please seek professional help, as soon as possible. A good movie to watch, while and because things are okay, before rape or abuse could even happen, is the movie “SPEAK ” This will open eyes tramendiously. just Please get help.

also love yourselves enough to say no to dates that make you nervous, intuition is a blessing.

Don’t be afraid to say no to someone who makes you feel uncomfortable, always let family members, friends, co-workers, know when you go on dates with people you have just met, and let them know what you’ll plans are. This can save your life if you are put in a life-threatening situation. Also know that rape is never your fault. Just as long as you said no, then you are the victim.

Please read Gavin de Becker’s GIFT OF FEAR. Use intuition. Be safe.
