Your Cell Phone Could Save Your Life

We use our cell phones every day to keep in touch with our family, friends, and colleagues. But not everyone is aware that your cell phone could also help to save your life: if you find yourself in an emergency situation, your cell phone might be your only means of getting through to someone who can come to your rescue. Even if you are unable to make a call, your phone can still help. Brittany Cozart, 20, was seriously injured in a plane crash, yet was able to communicate her situation through text messaging and guide her rescuers to her location.

I am writing in response to today’s episode of AMW.

I stepped back in from the kitchen and I heard John talking about Cell phone safety “myths” . One of them was that if you dial “112″ from your cell phone no matter where you are that it will connect you to an emergency center. It was then said that this was a myth, that it did not work. I tried this from my cell phone and was instantly connected to my local 911 center. When i informed the operator that I was trying this theory, she too was amazed that it had worked. I am a Nextel customer who lives in Kalamazoo, MI, USA

I too tried the 112 and found out it did connect me to my local emergency center, so this is not a myth. Please correct. I am a AT&T customer in Valdosta, GA.

The key word here is “could”. Brittany Zimmermann, a 21 year old UW student was killed in April o fthis year. She called 911 using her cellphone and NO ONE came. She was dead by her fiance.

I tried it, it worked instantly. I would like to say that the text message is also an option when an emergency call cant be connected, no matter how strong or weak your signal is, so no bars no problem, hope this helps someone out.

I am very happy cell phones were invented as a female being stranded by a disabled car, working late, getting lost or just running behind they are a great way to stay connected with everyone. Plus some cell phones come with navigation GPS Software that actually gives acurate up to the minute location.

I have Net 10 and it connected to Emergency when I dialed 112. It may depend on who’s signal Net 10 is using.
