Outsmart Scammers: Be On Guard Against Identity Theft

According to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), as many as 9 million Americans are victims of some form of identity theft every year. Whether conned into a phishing scam, visiting a malicious website, or having your mail stolen from your mailbox, there are hundreds of ways that lowlifes can take advantage of you and grab your personal information.

Criminals like AMW Fugitive Kurt Sohrbeck, a crook who cops say stole identities and thousands of dollars by making charges in other people’s names, are looking for ways to rob you of your identity, drain your bank account, and ruin your credit.

Your best defenses against ID theft are knowledge, awareness and eternal vigilance against scammers. The AMW Safety Center has plenty of strategies for stopping con artists in their tracks, and with some help, it’s easy to protect yourself against these would-be thieves. Check out some of these resources to help keep your personal information secure.

Very useful info. My wife and I had experienced theft of our credit/debit card info here in Tucson,Az. After using our card at a local Walgreens store that now has an ongoing investigation and pictures of suspects responsible on our local news. Suspects responsible for over 50K at this time…Thanks for all your hard work and dedication and Thanks to John Walsh and AMW!
God Bless You

I’ve learned from tips given by john walsh and AMW, that there’s no better time to prevent I D theft then now. I also know better than to be using my credit card number on the internet. By doing that, you’re just asking these hackers to give you trouble.

Thanks for your continued help in being aware of credit card fraud and deceit which seems to be everywhere. I never pay bills on line or order anything with my credit card but my dental insurance company had compromised our personal info on the internet and I was livid.

No matter how hard we try to protect ourselves there seems to be lax companies that continue to expose our records. What a shame! Thank you.

I have been buying and selling from my basement for about 10 years and hav’nt loss a cent by using my credit card on-line. If you have’nt gotten onboard yet what are you waiting for. What I can’t fiqure out is why some of the utility companys in our area SoCal dont accept payments online when I ask they dont even have a anwser i have’nt mailed a letter in years. Unlike most work at home “intre’preneur’s” “I used to be a Entre’preneur now Im a Intre’preneur” via the intranet. My >100k a year was’nt from Ebay . Sure we lost afew deals that were shipped and never were paid. “truckload of copper power cable” that had we been the shipper we could of recieved payment from our customers customer. also being the shipper gives you exclusive control over the shipment until delivered. also puts you on the hook for freight charges. try to ship on buyer trucking acct. prepaid with you being the shipper. Dont be afraid of doing bizzz on the intrenet for every one bad transaction there are 10,000 goood ones
