JW: The short answer is that there’s no way to make sure. Predators, identity thieves, and other shady characters are unfortunately, all over the Internet, and they’re trying to get your personal information to rob or harm you. Anything you wouldn’t put on a flyer that you’d post around town shouldn’t be posted online, because just as many strangers can see it there, if not more. I’m not just talking about things like bank account information or social security numbers. Addresses, phone numbers, and photos can give information about your location and habits to predators who know how to exploit them.
