Most people are amazed to find out that just by typing your phone number into Google, anyone with an Internet connection can find out exactly where you live! The video demonstrates exactly how it’s done. Take these steps to remove your number from this listing if you want that information to remain private:
- Type your number into Google, and press enter or click “search.”
- When the results appear, click on the phone icon next to your listing
- Fill out the removal form, and your request should be processed within 48 hours.
If you want to make sure your phone number is blocked when making a call, just dial *67 before placing the call. This will block your number from caller id. There are many other sites that keep your personal information freely available, and some of them may be sharing and reselling your information. The Privacy Rights Clearinghouse has a made available a list of many of these sites along with details for how you can remove your name from these databases. Also, check out the National Consumers League’s site for some more tips on how you can keep your personal information secure.
