Healing The Victims Of Child Sexual Abuse

Child sexual abuse is one of the most poignant forms of abuse, and it’s a crime that affects the entire family. There are several symptoms that could raise a flag signaling abuse, and recognizing these signs could help you save a child.

If you notice unexplained illnesses and injuries, or if a child begins to withdraw, become fearful or lose self confidence, these are all signs that a child could be being abused.

Check out the National Center for Victims of Crime for more tips on identifying an abused child, and for a wealth of resources available to help victims deal with the pain.

I am victim of abuse. I was able to but my abuser behind bars because i finally spoke out, it was after 13 years of enduring the abuse. There needs to be a better way for children who are being abused to get help. They need to know that they will be able to be safe away from their abusers. Had know that my abuser would have been kept away from me once I told, then I am sure I would have reported him sooner. It was horrible to go through what I did for so long. I had the opportunity in elementary school to tell a school councellor when I was 8, but I was terrified that he would find out when I got home, and that he would kill me when I got home, but I found out when I got older that if i had told they would have kept me safe. I think that it is also the respossibility of those who find a suspicious situtation to express to the child that they can and will keep them safe. Kids should know that there is help out there for them. It nees to be made more aware. Kids need to know that they can also, and should report things that they are told by there friends, especially if they are told by a friend that their friend is going through something that they should have to. I told several friends growing up, but it wasn’t til I told my sister, and she told my step mom, that someone had the guts to tell the police. I never had the nerve to go to the police I didn’t think that anyone would believe me. But When bad people do bad things they need to be stopped before they hurt anyone else.

you are absolutely right, there needs to be more exposure out there so that children can go to someone to get help. people tend to shy away from these topics and are afraid to get involved. there needs to be more exposure in schools, on billboards, on tv and on radio., it should be kept so hush hush.
