NASCAR: Choosing A Mechanic

When it’s time to get your car fixed, it’s easy to get a raw deal. Unless you’re an automotive expert, you’re at the mercy of your mechanic when you get car trouble, and too often, mechanics abuse your trust by doing a shoddy job, or overcharging. Follow these tips from NASCAR driver David Reutimann to avoid getting ripped off at the repair shop.

  • Word of mouth goes a long way, so check out your mechanic’s reputation. Ask a friend.
  • Find out what the company’s history and clientele is like.
  • Check out the garage. If it’s packed with customers, chances are the service is good.
  • Shy away from shady looking places. They make probably make you uneasy for a reason.
