Be A Good Sport

Good sportsmanship is just as important as winning.

July 23, 2007 kicks off National Youth Sports Week, and in honor of the occasion, the AMW Safety Center is blogging about sportsmanship. Here are some tips from the Citizenship Through Sports Alliance to help your child become a class act on the field.

  • Encourage your child to develop their skills rather than just win.
  • Maintain realistic expectations of your child’s ability.
  • Compliment your child for what they do well rather than criticizing.
  • Remember that if sports become work, they stop being fun.
  • Remember to talk to your child about the value of teamwork, discipline, and responsibility.
  • See sports as one of many worthwhile activities in your child’s life, not the the focus of it.

I have a question, not so much as a comment. Have you ever found fugitives in south dakota? and have you ever had a crime that was commited in south dakota, but was not at all solved. I frequently watch your show and I have not seen any episodes from south dakota, and if you did show some I probably was not watching, and I would like to know if you caught those criminals and put them to justice?
