Heavy rain can turn a Sunday drive into a white-knuckle experience. NASCAR driver David Reutimann has these tips to make sure that you make it through the storm:
- Check your wipers before bad weather strikes and make sure they’re in good shape.
- Clean road grime off of your windshield. It will help to increase visibility.
- Always slow to a speed at which you can see the roadway clearly.
- If the rain is too intense, find an exit ramp or gas station and wait it out.

Two of my teenagers took a defensive driving course entitled Xtreme Measures. My long time friend, Carl Kircher, runs the course at the Atlanta Motor Speedway and now even at Charlotte Motor Speedway. BOTH of my teens have used techniques they learned from the course which saved their lives while driving in heavy rainstorms. We have thanked Carl and he deserves recognition for saving our teens!

I like the way that AMW gives safety tips on how to drive safe on the road and avoid getting into road rage incidents to prevent yourselves from getting hurt because in today’s world, anything can occur even if you’re driving or not and AMW, i hope that you’ll reach a milestone in the next year by reaching your 1000th capture.

the thing about spin outs is kind of true but doesnt apply too all situations. I ‘ve heard that if your spinning out on ice for instance too tap the brake… and steer in the direction you want too go.

Regarding driving in wet weather, I read that it is dangerous to drive with the cruise control on. So, I always turn off my cruise control when the road is wet.

Only idiots and suicidal fools go full bore in heavy rain or on snow or ice.
Extreme rain produces imperceptible flooding even when the road is going uphill. Too high a speed results in aqua-planing. Steering is then uncontrollable. DO NOT TRY TO STEER OUT OF IT. Back off of the gas pedal - only reducing wheel speed will stop or prevent it. Monitor engine speed, over-reving indicates wheel spin. - For front wheel drive this is aquaplaning. Rear wheel spin can be simply overpowering or part of aquaplaning. IF GENTLE steering does not IMMEDIATELY result in the desired change of direction, TAKE YOUR FOOT OFF OF THE GAS untl control is resumed. Aquaplaing equals out-of-control. A layer of water is as bad as a layer of ice and less expected and not prepared for. Only GENTLE works on ice.

hi ihave a comment, if you are out at night time.going to the store, orother place. alway park your ca near the light. park as near to the place you are going. when you get your car lock door#1. when you come all way take a look outside. befour you are to far from the door to get back inside.

While tanking at gas stations I see a lot of women who do not take safety precautions, when alone or with young children.
One should always LOCK the car when going inside the store, & not leave young children alone in the car. It is also a good idea, to lock the car while one has to deal with the debit or credit card (back is turned to the car then), and keep it locked even when filling with gas.
Stay aware of your environment! Code orange.
I have seen women leave the windows down, and go inside the store for something, - not smart, they could end up with a guy who is hiding on the floor of the back seat, or minus the kids they more often than not, leave in the car.
