Drinking And Driving Is A Deadly Mix

According to the National Safety Council, someone is killed in an alcohol-related car accident every 30 seconds in the US. In 2006, alcohol related deaths on US roads rose to its highest level in 14 years. It can’t be said often enough: NEVER mix driving with drinking. For those who are of age, drinking in moderation can be enjoyable, so long as you and your companions play by the rules.

  • Never make plans to drink without assigning a designated sober driver first.
  • If you are drinking and do not have a designated driver, take a taxi or bus home.
  • Be cautious when driving at night and on holidays, when drunk drivers are most likely in action.
  • If you see someone driving dangerously or swerving, call the police immediately. One phone call can get a potential killer off the road and save lives.
  • Always wear a seat belt.

There have been cases in which the parents let their teens drive drunk here in the Rockville, Md. area. The police are doing their best in strenghening the rules and regulations.
