Last summer, AAA responded to over 7 million calls for roadside assistance. When you get behind the wheel and hit the road, are you prepared in case something goes wrong?
The experts at AAA offer you a few suggestions to help keep you safe and get you back on the road quickly:
- If you can, pull over to the side of the road and out of the way of oncoming traffic.
- If the situation is unsafe, don’t risk injury by getting out to push your vehicle.
- Alert other motorists as soon as possible by turning on your flashers, lighting roadside flares, or laying out reflective triangles.
- Raising your hood, or tying a brightly colored handkerchief around your antenna are other ways of alerting motorists that you need help.
- It is also a good idea to have jumper cables in your car, and a cell phone that you can use to call for help.
